| Qatar’s athletics star Nicolas Kimboi claimed the silver medal of the 10, 000 m event of the 16th Arab Athletics Championship currently held in Tishreen Stadium in Syria during 6-9 October 2009, where 18 countries compete in different athletics events and represented by 565 men and women athletes. These participating countries are; Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunis, Morocco, and the host country Syria. Bahrain’s Hassan Mahjoob seized the gold medal of this event. On the other hand, Qatar’s Mohamed Al-Thawadi succeeded to qualify to the finals of the 110m hurdles event, while Qatar’s Mousaab Belah managed to qualify to the semi-finals of the 400m. The championship will witness today the finals of the shot-put event for men, 110m hurdles men, 100m hurdles women, high jump- women, 100m men, and 100m women |
