International athletics refereeing course gets underway

DOHA, February 07, 2010 – As part of the ongoing preparations for the IAAF 2010 World Indoor Championships scheduled here in Doha on March 12-14.

The Organising Committee held a productive International Athletics Refereeing course at the Qatar Olympic Committee headquarters on Saturday with an aim to promote national athletics referees to “International Referees Standard”.
 
The seven-day course is organised in cooperation with IAAF, with participation of 20 local Qataris including men and women referees.
 
Moroccan Mr. Ahmed Al Tannan, international refereeing expert and Captain Abdulhakeem Al Amri of Qatar, head of referees committee at Qatar Association of Athletic Federation will provide series of theoretical and practical sessions related with the rules and regulations.
 
Theoretical lectures will be conducted at QOC main conference hall while the workshops will be held at the Qatar sports club.
 
Captain Abdulhakeem Al Amri told reporters that the course comes in light of QOC and QAAF’s profound concern to improve the technical level of national referees.
