the experimental IAAF World Indoor Games in Paris, the inaugural IAAF World Indoor Championships took place at the 'Hoosier Dome' of Indianapolis (USA) in 1987 between 6 and 8 March 1987. 402 athletes athletes from 84 countries attended the event which witnessed five new world record perfoWRances. The 1985 IAAF World Indoor Games were held in the "Palais Omnisports Paris-Bercy" on 18/19 January. The event was attended by 319 athletes from 69 countries.
